Today:

-My eldest entered puberty.

-I lost another pound. It must have been water weight, because I'm down 3.5 pounds since Monday. O_O

-I saw the second act of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and I officially love it. Everyone is linking to it, but if you haven't checked it out yet, please do so quickly. It's only going to up for free for a short time (though I believe it will be well worth the price on itunes or whatever). I find myself singing the tunes, and rooting for the poor underdog villain. Neil Patrick Harris is too cute for words, and Nathan Fillion plays a wonderful hero/jerk.

I love it so much I wish I could marry it and have its babies. Heh.

-I hope to have the next bit of HMOWK off to the betas today. I'm once again feeling the fun.

-Many on my friends list are having nightmares or strange dreams and posting about them. My Beloved even cried out in his sleep one night this week. Me, I woke up in the wee hours feeling vaguely disturbed but I have no idea what I had dreamed. I wonder if there's something in the ether that I am somehow missing out on entirely. *g*

-I've decided that I need to start meditating every day again, but the sit-still type of meditation does not work for me. I need to move or walk or something in order to empty my mind. I discovered this during my daily walks around the lake while we were camping. Perhaps I'll revisit the Tai Chi. When I last attended class they were teaching two person techniques, and the man I practiced with said I was "more forceful than most women" in the movements. (grrr) He added quickly that that was good because it meant we were more equally matched in 'energy' than he expected. *eyeroll* I think that made me uncomfortable because I was not yet ready to deal with my innate alpha-ness. I think I am now. *whip-cracking noise*

-My new comp screen is up and running, and only has one dead pixel. Yay!

Edited To Add: I've also been getting kind of gung-ho about drawing again, so maybe I'll have something to share soonish.

Well, the weight had to be some sort of bloat or something, to go that fast. All I've done is eat more veggies and drink lots of water. Also, Monday was my highest weight in ten years, so those pounds were probably acquired in the last month or so. But it's around a tenth of my goal, so that is pretty encouraging, I guess. Could not have been actual fat, though-- it had to be fluid. Only way it makes any sense to go that fast.

There's something in the air really - Eric's been having more expressive nightmares than usual too (meaning he clamps up to me and half-wakes). With Sigrid waking frequently at night I don't remember my dreams though.

Ugh. Good to know, I guess. I wonder why that is...

Now you've made me feel guilty. I didn't go to t'ai chi tonight. First time in ages. Daughter and kids were here and when they went home I was pathetically tired. I know doing the class would have actually helped but... Yeah. I'm being pathetic. :(

Next week, I'll kick bottom.

Heh. What I had was an 8-week course at the local state college annex, not real classes. For those i'd have to drive. :P

btw, "entered puberty" ?? He's hormonal? Oh I don't envy you that.

Well, actually today was his first hormone replacement shot. The blood supply to his testicles was somehow compromised before he was born, causing some of the important tissues to die, leaving scar tissue. So he has to have testosterone injections every month, probably from now on. At least until they come up with a better method of delivering the hormones his body should produce but doesn't. They tested him a few weeks ago to see if his other glands were producing what they should be if he was in puberty (like the pituitary)and they were. So they scheduled the shot (and the shots for a few months in the future), he pretty much literally entered puberty today, with some help. He took it all in stride. It was hard for me, but I think I hid it well.

Oh great that they can do that. Big Boy has only one, and they're hoping it will be enough to do the work. That was a compromised blood supply too, they took away the tissue that was left.

First thing Daughter said when Little Boy was born was: "He has two balls!"

Wonder if they'll be able to give your boy implants, like female hormone patches, in the future.

When he was little, they thought that might even be common practice by the time he was of an age for it. Not yet, though. They removed one of his testes because it was completely scarred and a high risk for cancer. The other one he still has, but they don't know that it will do anything. He's always been very adamant that he doesn't want children of his own, and I sort of hope he stays that way.

Watched this Dr. Horrible thing for the 1st time. Thanks for letting us know about it! How fun! NPH is doing a great job. I can so see this turning into a Broadway thing.

Yay on the HMOWK update!

My problem with sleeping? I can't! Two nights in a row, I'm wandering the house, getting on the computer, eating a snack, and wondering when I'll ever start sleeping regularly again. No stress in my life right now. Boredom, but not stress. Don't know what's up.

I'm so sorry you're not sleeping! That stinks. Glad you liked Dr. Horrible, though. I keep finding myself singing songs from it.

I've been told that (particularly in women) weight fluctuates so much on a daily/weekly basis due to hormones that the only accurate way to measure weight loss is to weigh every four weeks at the same time of day.

Of course, there are also studies that show that people who weigh every day lose more weight, on average, than those who don't. But there could be a lot of reasons for that; correlation =/= causation, etc.

I'm sure that this weight loss is due to fluid retention. I wasn't drinking enough, which can cause you to retain water. Hormones are a factor in that, too, but when I started drinking more fluids I'm certain my output was much higher than my intake. Hee!

I've found that my weight usually fluctuates about five pounds in a month, with the highest being just before and during my period. However, I think keeping an eye on it helps me keep my goals at the front of my brain. ;)

Puberty! Scary! I have been enjoying the Dr. Horrible thing too. It's clever and funny and, I have to admit, it even pulls at my heartstrings a little.

Oh, me too! I've always been a Joss Whedon fan (though not as rabid as some). And this is a great idea. I hope it makes money so he'll do more.

Yay! for losing the extra pound.

I am reassured about the 'only reliable over 4 weeks' thing - I need to believe that this week!

And yay! for being able to pin point the commencement of puberty to the second!

I am also glad the story's coming along :D

Thank you, dear. I had a rough go of it with Big Boy's situation when he was wee, blaming myself and so forth, but Now I'm pretty excited for him, to be honest.

Like I said, I'm sure it was mostly water with very little actual fat loss. But we'll see how it goes.

Congrats on the weight loss.

Good to hear that your kid has entered puberty. I hate shots, though. Hope he's okay with it.

Hurray about HMOWK and the betas. Hopefully soon??? Pretty please.

It does seem odd that so many people are having nightmares/strange dreams lately.

I love Dr. Horrible. Joss Whedon is a true genius!

Thanks! The hard part is yet to come, with the weight loss, I mean.

He was fine about the shots. Nervous this first time, but said afterward that it was nothing. So much of a nothing that he said he was embarrassed to have been nervous about it. He said it was no worse than being bitten on the behind by our cat. lol!

HMOWK will be soon, though we had company last night and I didn't get it sent off to the betas after all. Today, though.

I love Joss. :)

Yeah, it is only 3.99 to download all three from iTunes, I did it, and am very excited to rewatch as often as I please!

That IS quite a deal, I think. I hope they can make this business model work, I really do.

me to, and then maybe they can do more of these! It really is revolutionary for the medium.

Agreed. I so desperately want this to be the beginning of something larger. Something ongoing (not necessarily that story, just, you know, that sort of thing). My son has a great desire to be a filmmaker, and he's excited about the possibilities. I think I may give him his own YouTube account. :)

That's what Tylenol PM is for. Just one works wonders for me.

So...when is that update coming? :DDDDDDD
