Hello. My last post was about failing kidneys. In December of last year, I received a kidney transplant, and it's going super well (like, textbook ideal), aside from the whole pandemic thing. My husband was not a match, but he donated a kidney as part of a kidney exchange. We are both well, and being really careful.

Who's still here, and how are you doing?

Hi! I'm still here, quite often in fact. I read my reading list several times a day and post a few times a week. I was thinking about you recently and wondering how you were doing. Glad to hear the new kidney is working well!

I'm doing pretty well, for definitions of "pretty well" that don't fit the social norms. I lost my job in 2010 and haven't worked since due to mental illness. Which sounds like a downer, but honestly I'm pretty content with my life as it is. I may not be productive at a job, but I still feel like I have a lot to offer, mostly by trying to be a good friend and daughter. I live with my parents now and feel like I'm a big help to them.

I also spend a lot of my time knitting and crocheting. I've designed my own patterns, some of which are for sale, but I haven't made many sales yet. But at least I am trying, and having fun with it.

I'm glad to hear it! I am also not working at the moment, other than on writing. But, people are more than jobs, and our lives are not defined by productivity unless we let them be defined that way. Good on you. :)

LOL yanno the other day I was trying to remember what your LJ/DW name was...i knew if I saw it, I'd know it was you, but out of sight, out of mind is unfortunately how most of my memory works.

Haha, Yeah. That's the thing. I used to love LJ so much. In a lot of ways this type of thing is loads better than the rivers of sludge in social media.

I didn't know about the failing kidneys, but so glad to hear it went well and that you're back up again :)
