The Crossed Genres blog said they got so many submissions of such a good quality that their short list (usually 8-12 stories for a 5-6 story issue, though they planned 8-10 for this issue) contained 29 stories. They had some arguments about what should make the final cut, as well. Though they won't notify accepted authors until sometime today or tonight, I think I can accept rejection under those circumstances - I just have to tell myself my story *almost* made it. *g* My Beloved says I should have more confidence in my work, and it's not that I don't. I do realize, however that my work can always be better, that writing is one of the few lovely professions where, if you're doing it right, you never arrive. So I'm surprisingly sanguine about the situation. (Optimistic, because my story is now like Schroedinger's cat right now, but also willing to accept what comes without having a cow, yanno?)
It's good because I think I'm managing not obsess, and already writing on something new.
