Along with my health, my enthusiasm has returned!

Yes, this is a post about my website, why do you ask? *snerk*

It's true, GeekaChicas still has a few spots -- some pages are not what I want them to be, yet -- but the main section is crack-a-lackin'.

The reviews and articles are witty and sharp, and the passion of the writers for their topics shows through. I could NOT be happier. It was all I could do not to jump ahead and load all the content I have saved up in one day! (As it stands, I only uploaded some of the more time-sensitive reviews today -- movies currently in theaters, that sort of thing. But I have other articles and reviews saved up that will knock your socks off.)

New, Shiny Content!! Beyond the stuff I had up before when I was figuring out how to do it (which was also excellent -- I'm just saying it's been up a while). :)

The forum works, the polls work, all the share buttons work, and feeds are in place. But most of all, My Home-Beeyotches are all that, and a side of awesome-sauce! So, despite some annoying flaws in the periphery, I'm rolling this puppy OUT!

My hope is to have at least two new things up every day, so keep an eye peeled! Our own lovely [livejournal.com profile] jedi_diplomat has a fantastic article that will be published soon, all about getting your hands dirty and learning how to handle technology -- A message I totally needed to hear, since my fear of Joomla has been holding me back on this project. (This whole thing has been like that -- I am humbled and honored to have such talented and passionate friends, so willing to share their gifts! I am learning so much from everyone involved.)

Let the Pimpage begin!

I'm checking it out. I may have to pimp it on my blog at some point when I do another pimp post.

That would be so cool of you! The stuff I have in store to post is more diverse than what is up there now, but I'd be really happy to hear any suggestions you may have for other stuff, too. (I know it still has some warts, but I've decided to learn as I go. ;)

lol. I'm a different kind of geek, I'd love to crossover my blog to be more of the gamer/techno geek that I really am... but instead it comes off as the hippie/green/crafter/Mama geek.
But, from what I can see so far, you'll get pimped in a future pimp out. (And I joined your site so I can be a bit more gamer/techno geek when I need to.)

We could add hippie/green/crafter/Mama geekiness....don't you think? :)

lol. I doubt you want to hear me rave about Reynold's new 100% recycled aluminum foil or that Jif now makes 100% natural peanut butter that contains only six ingredients. lol!

Oh, yum! (The peanut butter, not the aluminum.) Well, I have one friend who will hopefully blog about afghans knitted to depict things of geeky interest, and another to geek out about fencing, so I don't see why not. :D

Absolutely! I think I already have a tag for crafty stuff, or if I don't, I meant to.

Awesome! I have two people who want to review games, and one person interested geeky crafting, but I don't have content from them yet, they seem to be waiting for it to get the bugs worked out, which I can totally grok. *snicker*

I even have a couple writer-buddies willing to geek out over the writing thing, so I'm sure you'd fit right in, in a number of ways. :D

I'll try to come up with a few things for you. I seem to be finding time to write this week.

I'll have to upgrade your registration from User so you can contribute, (and you might need to sign up at Gravatar.com to have an avatar show up with your posts) but you just let me know when you're ready. :) (uberwench AT geekachiacs DOT com)

I went and read the content -- very nice. I tried to comment on one piece, but the page just kept reloading and asking me for another code. :-(

Also, if I sign up as a member, can I get the content emailed to me, or at least an email notice when something's posted? Is there an LJ RSS feed set up for it? Sorry if these are dumb questions answered elsewhere ...

The comment function used to work just fine, so I tried it myself and had the same problem. Then, I called the hubby on his break and he tried it, and it worked for him. Grr. So I have an email in to the support guys, to ask about it. That is vexing.

I don't have an LJ RSS feed set up yet (I'm not sure how to do it! *shame*) but I have it set up so that you can get an RSS feed of a comment stream when you comment, or the RSS feed button should appear in your address bar when you're on the front page. (This worked for me, but I need to know if the orange button doesn't show up in the address bar for other folks, and what web browser they are using. So let me know, if you get a chance, and I'll let you know when the comment thing is sorted.)

Sure, but remind me to check again later. My brain is like swiss cheese.

Not a problem, dear. I've been a bit of a cheese head myself, lately. :D

Okay, I think I've got it. The deal is, it requires a valid email addy be entered and the terms of use be checked, and that guests don't use the same name as a registered user, etc.(all picky stuff meant to reduce spam). But ALL those error messages appear at the TOP of the page, and they fade away after a few seconds, so that if you don't scroll up right away to see WHY it didn't post, the message will be gone.

I'm going to change the settings on that as soon as I figure out where to go to change them. In the mean time, I'd be much obliged if you'd test the theory for me -- because it's possible you were experiencing a different problem than I was. (But if you don't have time, that's cool, too.)

Don't have time at the moment. I'll email myself a reminder. Gotta get to bed!

I don't know what time zone you're in, but where I am, you were up much later than I could have managed. I hope you get the rest you need.

:) Thanks! I saw that you registered. ;) It's a bit of a tadpole right now, but I hope it will grow into a big, geeky frog some day. (hee!)
