Saw kidney specialist today. Nurse evidently told her to "be nice" to me because I was nervous. Do not know what that means about her bedside manner, in general. Going in for tests and things later, then back to go over them with her after that. Knew it was coming and all, but it still sucks.

Am EXCEEDINGLY frustrated with the blog module for Joomla called My Blog. It does everything I want to do, except it deliberately deletes any code blocks you paste into it. Like, say, the pictures of things from Amazon Affiliates(with links to Amazon included) that I was so excited to be able to use without copyright issues. We asked the support people about it, and they said that was a feature to prevent people from messing up their blogs by accidentally posting malicious code. F***ers do not need to babysit me like that. I'm fuming. We sent back asking about work-arounds, but I'm still pissed off about it.

Like every other roadblock we've come across in this process, I'm sure we'll get it sorted, but I'm still angry that they think they need to protect people from copy/pasted code. *shakes fist* You bastards are not my mother. *grr*

Orlando is toast. Bummer.

I feel your frustration with Joomla.

An 8 out of 10??? That's insane. I don't think they are going to blow up Disneyworld. LOL.

The Mouse House is probably safe, but the Lockheed Martin facility right up the street is probably a big target.

Ah, that makes more sense.

So far, Joomla has been fairly easy to use. The MyBlog component is robust, and the people who made it (Asrule) are very responsive to support requests. This is the first time I've come across a "feature" that made zero fraking sense for a blog. Ron is confident that the feature can be turned off, but I have to wonder why they'd have put it in in the first place.

Oh, and you can come up here for a visit in the event of nuclear holocaust. ;)

Well that was bloody depressing. They gave me a 4 but they're wrong. It's likely much higher since I live between New York City and Philadelphia.

The radiation gives me almost 100% fatality in any month. Fun, fun.

Tests are good. Not just because it keeps me in a job ;) Because they find out useful stuff.

Yeah. In this case it's more of a "we can't fix you, but we can see exactly how broken you are" sort of test. But I'm hopeful it won't be that bad.

What about the kidneys? I haven't heard about that. Are you ok? is this new?

I'm fine, hon. It's just that the kidney disease that my parents had (oddly enough, BOTH of them), Polycystic Kidney Disease, is genetic. My bloodwork at my physical this past time showed reduced kidney function, so I've gone to a nephrologist. They are going to look for cysts on my kidneys and liver, just for a baseline, so they can see how quickly it is progressing from year to year. So, it's not really something new -- in fact, it is something I've been expecting since I was old enough to understand such things. I'm determined to live my life without obsessing over an assumed "expiration date" or what have you. :) It's cool. I'll do what I can to make sure I get to meet my grandchildren, but I'm not going to go all maudlin or anything. ;)
