Today, the President of the United States is ... George Bush.
The US economy is still the same frothy turdburger it was yesterday.
This was truly an historic election. The record turn-outs at the polls makes me proud of my country for teh first time in a great while.
While it's true that our next President will have the capacity to run our country off a cliff with few governmental speed-bumps from a largely Democratic Congress, I choose to believe that he is smarter than that.
I went to volunteer at the school this morning, and you'd have thought somebody died. Maybe something DID die, but maybe that is not such a bad thing.
Have HOPE, my friends. Watch, and listed to what he says, not what the pundits say. Hold him to his promises. I have seen, and I believe, that Obama can bring this country together.
If there is one thing I'd ask of all my friends on either side of the political divide, it is this:
If you feel you must ponder the future and the state of the world to come, ask yourself what you can do to make the world a better place, wherever you are, whatever you do. Be grateful for what you have. Show your love and appreciation for your fellow men.
If you knew for a certainty that the world will be a better place in a year or five years, ask yourself whether it would be in some part because of you, because of the people whose lives you touched, of the small you things helped make better, or will the world be better in spite of your complacency and cynicism.
We little folks might not be able to make the big decisions, but we can volunteer our time and give our money to help those who are suffering.
I hope that we can all accept what we cannot change, but change what we can.

Yes, the people in the school office were upset at the outcome of the election. I felt bad for them. I'm still on a job hunt, and I don't know what the future holds for me and my family. But you know what? I helped a little girl learn to read today. That freaking rocks!

And then my lovely wife pointed out that no, in fact, he's not. sigh Yet.
But you helped a little girl learn to read today, and that? Is what counts. For certain.

As for the people in the office being upset, someone was bound to get upset, either McCain supporters or Obama supporters. Now we need to come together and make the country a better place.
Keeping my fingers crossed that you find work!

But I think most people are reasonable enough about things.
