So, um, with a little instruction on how to use the scanner we have (and some additional refining of the original drawing) I give you the New and Improved Boy Reading:

Reading

I started drawing this because I wanted an icon with someone reading, but nothing I could find really evoked the emotions I wanted. This goes back to my undergrad days with my Beloved, when we would go to a nearby park and flop in the shade to read our coursework (and snuggle occasionally). I loved to watch him read, because of the way he moved. Even though he was entirely absorbed in what he was reading (and the man reads fast), he'd stretch and wiggle his toes or drum his fingers. Made me want to pounce on him and take a bite. Sometimes, I did. Hee!

***

So now I've learned how to use my scanner. I suppose the next thing is to figure out Photoshop well enough to, I dunno, add some color or something. Wish me luck!

Thank you, Scott! :) Your good opinion means a lot to me, because I'm consistently impressed with your work (though I don't always comment, which is naughty of me).

Oh, that's great. Even better now :o)

Thanks! Most of the improvement was in the scanning process, though I did fiddle with several details and generally darken key areas. It's amazing what the scanner was capable of! I guess the way I was using it before could be likened to using a cordless drill as if it were a hammer. *blush*

I think I'm getting better at drawing, but I know I've learned a lot about how to scan stuff. It's fun to learn new things!

What a very relaxed pose - love the hand reaching back to rub his neck. You've done a great job.

Thank you, dear! I'm very pleased with it and, honestly, somewhat surprised. It seems like I sometimes manage more than I really believe I have the capacity to do.

Wow, that's so good. Loved it.

Me, I can't even draw decent stick figures! LOL!

I'm not a great stick figure person, either. ;) The art thing started early for me, and it was something I learned and worked at getting better. I'd say the affinity I feel for art is natural, but I'm pretty sure the ability is an acquired skill, at least as far as I'm concerned. (I'm totally surprised by how much I love this picture. Hee! I keep going back to look at it, surprised that it was something *I* did. LOL!)

You're still very talented and the picture you drew has a relaxing and serene reminiscing effect, at least on me. Brings me back to my own childhood. :D
