Some time ago, we bought one of these group deals for a French Quarter Ghost Tour. Last night we took the tour, and we all had a good time. The stories about various hauntings were interesting. My favorite was the Andrew Jackson Hotel, which had once been a boarding school for boys. There had been a fire there, and five of the boys died. The stories about that haunting are prankish and playful.
The worst was the LaLaurie horror. It's a house that no one has been able to hold onto for long since the original owners. Most recently, Nicholas Cage lost it to foreclosure. But the stuff that happened there is truly horrific. Look it up if you want.
Also, certain parts of the French Quarter stink quite a lot. I live in Uptown. Uptown and the Garden District mostly smell really nice, because of all the flowers.
When we got to the first stop on the tour, my boys said, "I smell dead people."
They are such wits. :) I'm a lucky mama. No, seriously. My boys are better than cable, for sheer entertainment purposes.
