A Twist of Things to Come

I have a lot to do, just now. Oddly enough, the thing that worries me most is the homeschooling park day today, which is also a joint baby shower for two women I don't know so well. I'm utterly uncertain what would constitute an appropriate gift, and I have no idea what they might need. Ack. I guess I get to call the few folks I know reasonably well and fish around for ideas. Oy.

Today on GC, we have Pearce's Sam Neil's Bloodthirsty Corporation, about Daybreakers, the non-sparkly vampire movie with Sam Neil and Willem Dafoe. And, yeah, Ethan Hawke.

Now to go wade through the school work, scan some birth certificates, come up with some sort of dish for the baby shower, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm going to have fun staying on top of this stuff today.

Turns out the invite said "Low-Key Baby Shower" which means it's a potluck and they don't want gifts. No one has signed up to bring beverages, so I'm going to snag some soda, juice and water and I'm golden.

*Whew*

However, it starts in half an hour and the Wee Boy is not doing his work. Eh, I guess we'll just finish up the school stuff afterward.

The Australian Classification Board is now banning the use of small-breasted women in adult publications and films. Let that sink in a second. Okay. The reasoning behind that is that small-breasted adult women might appear to be underage. (Won't SOMEONE think of the CHILDREN!?!) As a small-breasted woman, I find this offensive on many levels. I'm rather happy with my body the way it is, and the suggestion that my lover might appreciate my body because he's really hot for the schoolgirl look is offensive to both of us. Now, I realize I am not likely to mistaken for an underage girl for a number of reasons, but it's still way creepy that the Australian government is going to such extremes to make their country "safe" for children. Best case scenario, it mildly inconveniences bad people doing bad things to children and sharing photos of same. Worst case scenario, it gives parents a false sense of security.

This is just nuts.
