asato_muraki: (Freak out)
I have about reached the point where I don't want to upload any more stuff until I can truly publicize the site. Meaning, at least get the navigation down and nifty buttons (RSS feed, Digg, etc.) set up. Basically, finish the thing except for relatively minor details. I really, really want to manage that this week, if I can.

Most of the stuff that I have in my possession and have yet to post, as well as much of what is up there now (aside from some older stuff of mine, taken from this very space), is stuff I really want to publicize, and if I add much more right now, it will fall off the front page.

Many of you saw [livejournal.com profile] hominysnark's Uwe Boll movie post yesterday, which she said I could have for the site -- and that is just way to darn funny to let be on the second page when we roll out. I feel the same about all the original content people have given me.

So. Now I know how to make the entries look good, I'm going to focus on the rest of the site for a couple days and then start loading content again. I'm just to proud of my homies' work to let it languish in a half-built site. Wish me luck!

The weather here has been quite warm -- we've been sleeping with the windows open. The birds are out and twittering all over. I love this time of year. :) There's even a mocking bird who imitates the funny sound our truck makes.

OMG! Someone is stealing our truck!

No, it's a mocking bird.

A bird is stealing our truck?

*snort*

The hits on my lame-ass Criminal Minds video keep rising. It's by no means viral or popular, or even good, but people keep watching it. Most even stay to the end -- probably because it's so short. But I've learned so much by now, I know I can do better. Maybe I'll play with some video today, too.

:) It feels like spring! I'm feeling quite energized. :)

Odd Thing: My cat snores. Not just a dainty whistle or wheeze, but a honking, III-can-hear-it-through-my-computer-headphones-is-a-healthy-cat-supposed-to-make-that-noise snoring.

[livejournal.com profile] splix gave me five things she associates with me, and I'm supposed to talk about them. :)

1). Anime is vasty deep. There's ugly anime, kidvid anime, porn (OMG!tentacles), girly anime, boy proving himself anime, high school anime... There's just a whole lot of it. The anime I like best is both visually interesting AND surprising. The more familiar I become with anime tropes, the harder it becomes to surprise me. However, there are a few I can recommend without reservation. One of them is Samurai Champloo, even the dub doesn't suck, and that is saying something. It's by the folks who gave us the fantastically awesome Cowboy Bebop. Like its predecessor, it is music-centric and genre- smashing. It is roughly set in the Edo period, but the music (including the opening theme) is often very modern and mostly rap. One of the main characters, Mugen, uses a fighting style that strongly resembles break dancing. It is utterly, jaw-droppingly cractastic. The characters are believable and flawed, but still manage to sympathetic. Mugen and Jin intend to fight to the death, but they both owe Fuu a debt of honor and agree to help her find "the samurai who smells like sunflowers" and fight afterward. Nothing turns out like they expect.

This is not one for the kiddies, as it takes a fairly frank, matter-of-fact approach to sexuality (not at all out of keeping with the period in which it is loosely set). Fuu is frequently threatened with sexual slaver of one sort or another, also, many limbs are hacked off, people burn alive, lots of fairly intense things happen. It's great drama -- and quite refreshing to someone as bored with the paint-by-numbers plotting of most American entertainment.

Tomorrow I'll tackle the next one. :)
