Well, we had a great week at GC last week. Then I left home for a weekend trip, having forgotten to tell y'all about Nightsky's latest article, Head, meet wall. Wall, head. Charmed I'm sure, a very thoughtful and inspiring article about how the contributions of women in various fields have been overlooked or marginalized. With lots of detail and well thought out arguments.

Let me just take a moment to say that I am proud to be in such company at GeekaChicas. :)

I think the controversy has been very good for the site, to be honest. Even though I very much agree with those who say that the original article did not really merit the attention, I think it has provided a wonderful opportunity to say some things that either needed to be said or that we needed to say.

So it is with a certain amount of discomfort that I present Sweet Clementine's Musings on Booker T. Washington and Feminist Writing. While I understand her point (that the original article was too fringe/crazy to merit a response, as there are much bigger fish to fry) telling outspoken women to not get their 'knickers in a twist' is an interesting choice. Since, after all, silence implies consent.

Perhaps I should loan her my (figurative) Kevlar knickers.
