asato_muraki: (It's all up here)

There are so many cool things in my life that I don't really deserve. Maybe that's what makes them so cool, you know? There are some things we get in life that, really, no one deserves per se. These are some of mine.

I'm really grateful for my generous, committed lover. I met him twenty years ago this April. O_O We've been married for 15 of those years, and a wild journey it has been. I've never doubted his love for me, even when I had post partum depression, the darkest time of my life, ever.

I'm grateful for my friends. Love and friendship are grace. They make our lives rich.

I'm grateful for good books, and for books that are bad in just the right way, because those are fun, too.

(Speaking of books, I'd be remiss if I did not pass along the news that American Gods is now available to read online for free. For one month, I believe, in celebration of the anniversary of his blog, or some such. If you haven't read it, go
here and you can. It's a grand gesture, and in light of it I have changed my mind about that whole screaming the next time a cloud "scuds" across the sky thing. That was petty of me, really. I'm quite ashamed.)

I'm grateful for my goofy kids and the element of wildness they bring to my life. Sometimes it is frustrating, but it's always good.

I'm grateful for this process, and for the ability to try again each day, even when the last was less than successful. It may be cliche, but it really is all about the journey.

I'm grateful for my friendslist, and all the wild, wonderful people on it. You make me smile and gasp and belly laugh. Then you make my life richer with your beautiful photographs and skilled drawings. You give me hope with your stories of struggle and joy, and I love going, in as much as I am able, on your journey as well. So many of you have recently discovered something that you're really, really good at, or decided on something you really want to do (or not to do). It's amazing the strength I see here, and the brightness you bring to my life. Whether it's a Quote of the Day or an amazingly well edited video, a heart-wrenching story or a clever drawing or manip, I never have to look farther than my flist to find a reason to smile.

Thank you!
