*Snagged from pretty much my whole f-list*

1). I walked to the Luna Cafe to write. It was glorious, like writing in a dream, I felt the characters, saw the spots where the narrative needed tweaking, etc. The characters spoke to me like real people - surprising and nuanced in ways I had not specifically planned. It was really nice. I plan to go back as often as possible.

2). Took a detour to visit a friend who is leaving town because The Green Lantern just wrapped. She wasn't home, but the walk took me through a part of my immediate neighborhood that was so amazing. It's very warm and the air here is very heavy with moisture, so scents carry, big time. Not just the obvious things, like doggie doo or flowers (which are both common enough, locally, with the flowers winning out by a nose). Did you know that hundred-year-old brick sidewalks, baking in the sun, have a smell? The moist, green piquancy of trimmed shrubs and the dry tang of grass clippings heated by the sun and blown about by leaf- blowers. It was a very rich experience, but I am also glad I brought my inhaler. ;)

3). One other person showed up for the Writer's Circle 'organizational meeting' which was funny because she and I met up before hand for dinner, walked ten steps from the restaurant to the meeting place continuing our conversation uninterrupted. But, the best part was that she called me as I was leaving and said, "I'm dying for a daiquiri - should I get you one, too?" To which I replied a hearty, "Oh GOD yes." I'm not much of a drinker, but the time was right.

4). This was the first time M. and I really had a chance to talk, and she's very interesting and fun. AND she's in the Krewe of Muses, which is only the best Krewe in NOLA. (Well, I think it's the only all-femme krewe that actually has a parade.) She also invited me to the Artist's Way meeting today, and the Books and Booze book club next week.

5). She also told me how easy and cheap it was to enter the MFA program at UNO in a largely online course of study (with a few summer trips planned). She gave me all the names and numbers of people I would need to talk to about the details, and urged me to sign up Monday. It's only $850 a semester for state residents. O_O

My life is really pretty freaking awesome, right now.
