Okay, I suck. I can admit that. It looks like HMOWK will not be ready before I leave for the north Georgia mountains. My laptop is having surgery today, and then we'll be leaving with no internet access for several days.

I might have managed it yesterday, but we ended up driving around pointlessly for hours. We went up to the county seat to do some paperwork for the homeschooling thing, and the office was "closed for the 4th of July holiday." Grrr. We went by the other school to give them a certified copy of Wee Boy's birth certificate, and THEY weren't there, either, and won't be until just before school starts.

I also went through the year's school papers and collected Wee Boy's Sunshine Math sheets to prove he was not given a sunshine Math pin even though he completed the work. But since the office was closed that will also have to wait.

We also got a nasty-gram from the neighborhood association about our dying grass, which they sent us a similar note telling us to put pine straw down to cover it some months ago. Now they want the pine straw removed and sod placed there. LOL. Make me, bitches. :) What gets me is that I know the same neighbors would report me if I violated the watering ban, which is why the grass died in the first place.

You know, it almost makes the prospect of being butchered by angry natives in Africa seem appealing. I can face struggling to survive much more easily than I can face arguing about the whether the flowers I planted around my mailbox are too high. Life here seems so pointless sometimes.

Perhaps that is why they call it Suburban Hell.

I don't fell well at the moment, and haven't for days. Perhaps a trip to the mountains will improve my outlook.

Conversation after my Beloved treated a minor scrape fro Wee Boy:

Wee Boy: You have been to medical school, right?

Beloved: Nope. I've had special emergency medical training, but when I met your mama I decided I didn't want to go to medical school.

Me: That's a lot to lay on my head.

Beloved, grinning: Oh, I wouldn't say it's on your head.
